The Hunter River Hotel has occupied its present site on the corner of Melbourne and Day Streets in East Maitland since 1845.
No doubt in its early years its proximity to the historic Maitland Gaol (now a popular tourist destination) made for some interesting clientele!! However, those days are long gone…
Following a major refurbishment in 2006, the Hotel is an attractive modern building with a large, easily accessible, carpark and ample off-street parking.
We have the best Sports Bar in the district and a fully equipped TAB - if you’re a sports fan, you won’t miss a game or a race!
The Bistro, Head Chef Josh Wickham and his deputy’s Nicole & Michael, have given the Hotel bistro a reputation for excellence. They are the best team in the business and the quality of their food is exceptional.
Upstairs, we have a large function room with its own bar and seating for up to 140 guests. We cater for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and all other special occasions. We also offer full conferencing facilities for businesses and associations.
